SRAM and DRAM

SRAM stands for Static RAM. Static RAM is called Static because the memory remains in the RAM so long the RAM is powered. SRAM typically uses 6 capacitors to maintain a memory cell. SRAM is used in CPU registers and cache memories like L2 and L3. It’s also used in cell phones and hearing aids. Printers, routers and switches also use SRAM.

DRAM stands for Dynamic RAM
